Jennifer has been central to the success of the UK’s Smartphone Free Childhood movement, leading the organisation’s political engagement in 2024 and serving
as a regional leader in London and Surrey.
She is co-founder of the Smartphone Free Schools Rating System and serves as its development director.
Jennifer speaks to parents across the country about the impact of smartphones with the charity PAPAYA, is the host of the POWERS UNPLUGGED podcast, and is a frequent media commentator.
A former Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on energy and business, Jennifer has over 25 years of experience in public policy and strategy.
Before her government roles, she served as legislative affairs director at a membership organization, worked for the energy regulator and was managing director of a professional services consultancy.
Since leaving Downing Street, she has worked on upgrading the electricity grid, the development of clean fuels and bringing new telecoms products to market.

ADVISORY COUNCIL MEMBER
As a father of two young children, Chris became concerned at the impact of smartphones, social media and addictive technology on childhood and joined the advisory council of the Unplugged Coalition to advocate for change in this space.
Professionally, he is an experienced public policy practitioner with extensive expertise in financial services. He led the public affairs function for Nationwide Building Society from 2015 to 2025, including a period as interim director of corporate affairs. Prior to Nationwide he was a senior manager in the public affairs team at Santander UK from 2013-2015. He started his career in consultancy at financial services advisory firm Lansons.
He is experienced in advising CEOs, Boards and Executive Committees on the impact of public policy and how to shape it. He has policymaking experience, having seconded with HM Treasury during the pandemic and helped deliver a review for the then Chancellor on the future of payment systems in 2023.
Chris chaired the external affairs committee of UK Finance from 2023-2025 and represented Nationwide on the Council of the Building Societies Association.
